The SR-57 Northbound Widening project was proposed as part of the freeway improvements to the SR-57 in Orange County. A lane was added between Orangethorpe Avenue and Yorba Linda Boulevard. The scope of work involved freeway and ramp widening, seven bridge widenings, and construction of soundwalls, retaining walls and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, and a tieback wall at Yorba Linda Boulevard overcrossing.
EMI was the prime geotechnical consultant and was responsible for all phases of this project. EMI conducted geotechnical field and laboratory investigations and testing, and performed bridge foundation design (primarily Cast-in-Drilled-Hole (CIDH) concrete piles), retaining and sound wall design (spread and pile footings), and pavement structural sections for freeway and ramp widenings.
