I-10 HOV Improvement Project

This HOV project adds high-occupancy vehicle lanes to the I-10 in the cities of Ontario, Fontana, Rialto, Colton, San Bernardino, Loma Linda, and Redlands. The project is run by the San Bernardino Association of Governments and the California Department of Transportation. The project is approximately 25 miles long and affects nearly 50 existing bridges. Project improvements include construction of HOV lanes and concrete median barriers, retaining walls, drainage facilities, and new California Highway Patrol enforcement areas.
EMI reviewed all available subsurface data and prepared reports for preliminary design. Reports consisted of structure foundation reports for the bridges and retaining walls providing seismic and foundation design, a materials report providing pavement recommendations, and a geotechnical design report addressing ground settlement and stability of slopes.
